If you’re passionate about fitness and helping people live long healthy lives, you might want to consider a career as a personal trainer. You’ll develop exercise programs specific to your clients’ needs and be rewarded by seeing them change their lives and become more active, while at the same time challenging yourself and staying fit while you work.
Let’s take a look at some of the other benefits of being a personal trainer and what fitness courses and qualifications you need to become one.
Why Become a Personal Trainer?
With the rise in obesity and sedentary lifestyles in Australia comes a new awareness of the need to take better care of ourselves. Many people prefer to use a personal trainer to keep them accountable and to make sure they do the work that’s needed to help them stay healthy and active well into old age. That means there’s currently a significant demand for good personal trainers.
Another benefit is that you get to work for yourself, on your own schedule, for as long as you want, when you want.
Do I Have What it Takes?
Since you are your own boss, you need to put in the work to get clients, to work with them and to develop the exercise plans to help them achieve their fitness goals. Therefore a love of physical fitness and helping other people are essential if you want to succeed. You’ll be working with a diverse range of people of all ages and backgrounds so a positive can-do attitude will certainly help.
If you’re authentic, easy to get along with, and genuinely care about helping people change their lives by getting more active, then a career as a personal trainer may well be your dream job.
