This course is an entry level course into the Sport, (Outdoor) Recreation and Fitness industries, and is available at the Brisbane, Broadbeach and Coolangatta campuses.  In this course students get to experience the basics of the industries by participating in a great range of activities centred on recreational enjoyment and the analysis of various aspects of the industry through enjoyable participation.

This course is an entry level course into the Sport, (Outdoor) Recreation and Fitness industries, and is available at the Brisbane, Broadbeach and Coolangatta campuses.  In this course students get to experience the basics of the industries by participating in a great range of activities centred on recreational enjoyment and the analysis of various aspects of the industry through enjoyable participation.

This course is aimed at preparing students for a Certificate IV or Diploma course in Sport, Recreation or Fitness, or for those wishing to enter the industry at a level appropriate to their skills and knowledge.  It is now available at the Brisbane, Broadbeach and Coolangatta campuses.

At this level students are learning not just about the industry, but how to assist others in learning about the Industry.  For example students are designing programs, learning teaching or coaching skills, and how to work towards entry into the industry at Instructor or Coach Level in the future, or entry into a course at that level (Cert IV or Diploma).

This course is aimed at preparing students for a Junior Management level career in Sport, Recreation or Fitness, or for those wishing to enter the industry at a level appropriate to their skills and knowledge.  At this level students are learning just about everything they will need to know about a sector of the industry, from diet, coaching, programming, business skills and leadership.  

Students may choose Surfing as an elective to specialise in, or may prefer to concentrate on the Fitness or other Sports industry, or even the business aspects of any sports industry. Each campus has different electives available not shown on this sheet. Please contact the Campus that you wish to enrol at if you would like more information on alternative electives. 

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in guiding outdoor recreation activities in a controlled environment. It requires technical knowledge of the outdoor recreation activity to be transferred to allow individuals to safely participate in the outdoor activity. It does not provide the skills and knowledge to impart the required level of technical knowledge and expertise to allow participants to independently undertake outdoor recreation activities.

Well this is the course for you!  This course gives you the Nationally Recognised Qualification, and included (some outside charges may occur) is the opportunity to get the required licence for your chosen activity or activities.  Why not combine a few of your passions and become highly sought after as an Instructor or Guide working in the exciting world of International travellers who want to experience the great activities on offer in Australia (for example diving on the Great Barrier Reef) or across the globe.  

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of exercise instruction situations and activities.  Qualification outcomes include providing exercise instruction for groups, teams or gym programs.  Work may be undertaken in locations such as gyms, fitness facilities, pools, community facilities or outdoor environments.

The key clients for this qualification are people who wish to work in the Fitness industry.  This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions within the Fitness Industry, including working independently in a broad range of settings, such as within fitness centres, gyms, community facilities and in open spaces.  Those with this level of competency will be expected to train individual clients, on a one-on-one basis, and may include older clients and children.

This qualification allows individuals to develop basic skills and knowledge to prepare for work.  They may undertake a range of simple tasks under close supervision.  The range of technical skills and knowledge is limited.

The key clients for this qualification are domestic and international learners who wish to attain work in the industry at entry level. 

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context, working under direct supervision.

The key clients for this qualification are domestic and international learners who wish to work in the industry as a receptionist, desk clerk, data entry operator, or administration assistant. 

This qualification allows individuals to apply a broad range of competencies in a varied work context using some discretion, judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge.  They may even provide technical support to a team.

The key clients for this qualification are domestic and international learners who wish to work as customer service adviser, data entry operator, general clerk, administration officer, or word processing officer.

Certificate IV in Business develops skills to run your own business, or work in a business where you can apply solutions to unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a wide variety of sources. You will be able to provide leadership and guidance to others with your learned skills.

Students who wish to pursue careers as administrators or project officers, or start their own businesses, perhaps in Fitness or Sport. Students may have no experience but wish to gain a qualification which may lead to a career in Business, or they may have vocational experience in a range of roles such as accounts clerk, customer service advisor, E-business practitioner, medical receptionist, or word processing officer, but be lacking a qualification. 

Diploma of Business is for those wishing to lead a Business practice, and reflects the role of individuals with substantial experience in a range of business settings who are seeking to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions. This qualification is also suited to the needs of individuals with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.  The key clients for this qualification are domestic and international learners who wish to pursue careers as executive officers, program consultants, or program coordinators. 

Advanced Diploma of Business is for those wishing to lead a Business practice, and reflects the role of individuals with substantial experience in a range of business settings who are seeking to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions. This qualification is also suited to the needs of individuals with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.  The key clients for this qualification are domestic and international learners who wish to pursue careers as a senior administrator or Senior Executive.

Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management is for those wishing to apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

The Preliminary level course is a 28 week course (20 weeks tuition and 8 weeks holiday), to help develop a beginning English level for people wanting to migrate to Australia, work in Australia, or generally develop English skills from a practical point perspective.  It is essentially an ESL (English as a Second Language) course for Vocational Education purposes.  It is NOT an ELICOS course.  No pre-requisite level is required.

Certificate I is a 28 week course (20 weeks tuition and 8 weeks holiday), to help improve everyday English for people wanting to migrate to Australia, work in Australia, or generally improve English skills from a practical point perspective.  It is essentially an ESL (English as a Second Language) course for Vocational Education purposes.  It is NOT an ELICOS course.  Students may have completed a preliminary course in Spoken and Written English, but no pre-requisite is required for this beginner level course.

Certificate II is a 28 week course (20 weeks tuition and 8 weeks holiday), to help improve everyday English for people wanting to migrate to Australia, work in Australia, or generally improve English skills from a practical point perspective.  It is essentially an ESL (English as a Second Language) course for Vocational Education purposes.  It is NOT an ELICOS course.  Students may already possess a Certificate I in Spoken and Written English, or demonstrate a proficiency level equivalent to an International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) of 1 (basic transactional proficiency), or completed Elementary General English.

Certificate III is a 52 week course (40 weeks tuition and 12 weeks holiday), to help improve everyday English for people wanting to migrate to Australia, work in Australia, or generally improve English skills from a practical point perspective. It is essentially an ESL (English as a Second Language) course for Vocational Education purposes.  It is NOT an ELICOS course.  Students may already possess a Certificate II in Spoken and Written English, or demonstrate a proficiency level equivalent to an International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) of 2, or completed an Elementary General English type course. 

Certificate IV is a 52 week course (40 weeks tuition and 12 weeks holiday). The key clients for this qualification are people who have developed some competence in English language and literacy skills and who have had a fair degree of formal or informal exposure to English. It is essentially an ESL (English as a Second Language) course for Vocational Education purposes.  It is NOT an ELICOS course.  Students may already possess a Certificate in Spoken & Written English, or demonstrate a proficiency level equivalent to an International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) of 2+, or completed an Elementary General English course.

 

Students are granted Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) where they are able to demonstrate that they can fulfil the assessment criteria for a particular learning outcome or module. For learners with a mixed profile, it is possible for them to be enrolled across certificate levels.

All students who are not Native English speakers must complete this test prior to submitting their enrolment.
